The center was opened in 1999 and is located at the Jochiwon Campus with a total floor space of 14,207 square meters. During the summer and winter breaks, the center hosts the "English Camp" developed and run by the Hongik University English Language Institute. This English immersion program is divided into the elementary, intermediate, and collegiate levels instructions, and provides an intensive English-only environment taught by native speakers for a three-week period. The center provides first-class room and board, and boasts excellent instructional facilities including lecture halls, computer labs and audio-visual rooms. The center also has extensive sports facilities such as lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, squash courts, a fitness center, and a meditation room. There are also camp-fire areas, an outdoor theater, and a survival training course.
