The College of Liberal Arts offers a general liberal arts education in the area of humanities. The program is designed to help students develop their ability to think critically and creatively in a variety of academic disciplines.
  The college currently has four language and literature departments in English, French, German and Korean. Plans are also under way to accommodate students in other major liberal arts areas.

Department of English Language and Literature
  The educational goal of the Department of English Language and Literature is to cultivate in its students a scholarly and critical attitude toward literature and to foster competence in English language ability. To this end, the English department's curriculum places equal emphasis on British-American literature, English linguistics and practical English. Also, the lectures given by native instructors help students to have a better command of 'living English.' In addition, students perform an Anglo-American play once a year.

Department of German Language and Literature
  With the aim of producing well-trained students in German language and literature, the department offers basic courses for freshmen and sophomores that focus on practical German. For juniors and seniors, advanced courses in German linguistics and literature are offered. Since its creation in 1981, the department has held literary lectures and book review meetings for students, who have also published a journal, "The Quelle". The department is equipped with a modern language lab and other various materials on German language and literature.
  Many of our graduates are working in various fields including trade companies. Some go on to continue their study at graduate schools.

Department of French Language and Literature
  The curriculum focuses on French linguistics and current French with the educational aim of producing scholars equipped with practical language ability. It is divided into two parts: the first is mainly for freshmen and sophomores, and consists of French conversation courses conducted by native speakers and aided by audio-visual materials; the second is for juniors and seniors, and is designed to provide students with extensive experience in French linguistics and literature.
  The graduates are actively involved in foreign companies related to France, trading companies, conglomerates, and small to medium - sized companies.

Department of Korean Language and Literature
  The Korean language and literature provides the basis of all major studies in the university. Korean major students prepare themselves to become scholars of Korean literature or Korean linguistics. The curriculum is divided into three areas: Korean linguistics, contemporary Korean literature, and classical Korean literature.
  Students take part in field trips to learn the traditional basis of our language and literature and hold an annual academic festival.
  The primary goal of our graduates is to continue their study at the graduate level, or to become engaged in teaching, publications, and the mass media.
