The Department of Law of Hongik University established in 1987 has served students expansive legal education though private, public, social, and international law areas. The curriculum combines a strong academic foundation with expertise in an array of specialty areas. The faculties, legal scholars with various practical experiences, provide the law students superior preparation for their future, especially in the era of globalization. Also, the Department of Law, which now has more than 400 students, operates a distinctive support system to assist students in their preparation for the national bar examination as well as to get competence, ethics, and dedication. Particularly, the Department of Law educates students to work and consider the weak, the outsider, and the minority who have not been well supported under the present Korean legal system.
Despite of the short history, due to endeavor of the law faculties and students exerting themselves to set a high standard of studying, the Department of Law is starting to produce some legal professionals in the judiciary, the public, or the private sectors and to form alumni community that is diverse, supportive, and enabling.
It all makes the Department of Law an unrivaled place to start, build, and launch a successful career and life in the law.
